Tangled End Credit Animation

My Role: Multimedia Designer

For my senior digital narratives class our objective was to design and animate an end credit sequence of any movie. I chose Tangled, not only because I really love the movie, but because of its visual colors and lighting throughout most of the film.

Illustrations & Frames

Gathering Visual Research
The research process involved a lot of visual and contextual analysis. To start off with, while rewatching the movie, I noticed right away Rapunzel painted all over the walls in the towers.

Undertones and lighting
The color palette throughout the movie changes based on the emotional context of the scene as well.

In particular the colors honey warm orange and royal purple were not only the kingdom’s branding that the movie takes place in, but these colors play a big part in Rapunzel’s journey as a symbol of happiness or personal growth. While watching the movie, there was always an undertone of purples and warm yellows in the settings and lighting.

Hair, Hair, Everywhere
Another big thing I noticed was that the movie focused on Rapunzel and Flynn, more importantly, Rapunzel’s journey as she leaves her castle and explores the kingdom of Corona.  A big part of her character is her insanely long golden hair which follows her everywhere!
